Aloha ʻOhana, Mark your calendars! The Reunion Council is excited to officially announce that our next ʻOhana Getaway, will be held in San Diego, California, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m, in the Building 12 courtyard of Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens at Liberty Station, located on the Point Loma peninsula, and close to San Diego International Airport. To find us, head to the iconic 88-foot Norfolk pine tree in the middle of the courtyard, visible throughout Liberty Station. The menu for our event will feature street tacos and craft beer, which are both a major part of the local culture that makes San Diego famous. Tickets for the event are now on sale. Early bird pricing is $63 per adult, and $35 per child age 12 or under. Liberty Station was originally the Naval Training Center (NTC) established in 1923 and closed in 1997. In 2000, the City of San Diego inherited the historic site and began transforming it into the vibrant destination for arts, culture, dining, and shopping that it is today. Located at the heart of Liberty Station is Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, beloved as the granddaddy of craft breweries in San Diego. The biggest neighbor of this Stone brewery is Liberty Public Market, a 25,000 square-foot food court showcasing local eateries and artisans. Established in 2016, this unique marketplace is about to undergo a 6,000-foot expansion to be completed in spring 2022—in plenty of time for our family getaway in summer 2023! Next-door neighbors of Stone at Liberty Station also include Breakfast Republic, Officine Buona Forchetta, and Moniker Coffee. These are all located in the Arts District of Liberty Station, known for its First Friday celebration that will be held the day before our event. Liberty Station consists of five districts. Connected to the south end of the Arts District is The Quarter, which includes a Trader Joe’s that our ʻOhana visiting from Hawaiʻi will especially enjoy. Bordering the east side of the Arts District and The Quarter, and overlooking the boat channel, is the vast NTC Park, great for picnics and outdoor activities. South Point consists of four hotels, as well as dining and shopping. The Neighborhood consists of residences and a school system. Adjacent to the northwest corner of the Arts District is The Loma Club, which includes a nine-hole golf course, and two miniature golf courses for the whole family to enjoy. Nearby beaches include Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, and Pacific Beach. Nearby attractions include Cabrillo National Monument, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, SeaWorld, USS Midway Museum, Old Town, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Little Italy, Gaslamp Quarter, and the historic Hotel del Coronado on Coronado Island. Continuing north, popular beach towns include La Jolla, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside. To the south is Imperial Beach. For more information, visit our event page, where we have prepared a map of suggested attractions and eateries, as well as a video playlist with ideas and tips to help you get the most out of your visit.
